I brought in Odylique Gentle Herb Shampoo to the store when a customer had requested it, and I had no particular expectations for the product at that time.
I have dark, thick Asian hair that is dry and unmanageable. After having scalp eczema, my hair hasn't been the same.
Even though the scalp eczema has disappeared, I feel like my hair gets dirty/greasy quite quickly and I have to wash my hair more often than I used to. This despite using the same shampoo and conditioner.
I've had to wash my hair every other day instead of every 3-4 days. It also gets a bit itchy if I wait too long between hair washes.
Day 1
My first impression of the shampoo gave me a positive surprise. The shampoo looks like a thin hair conditioner.Despite this, it lathers a bit, enough to massage it into the hair and scalp. The shampoo felt so beneficial that I spent some time massaging my scalp with it.What a hallelujah scalp experience! It was so soothing and calming!I used more shampoo than usual, but perhaps not so strange considering the wonderful scalp massage. It was worth it.When the shampoo was rinsed out, my hair felt incredibly clean, perhaps a bit too clean as the hair had "high friction" just like a freshly washed dish.According to the shampoo bottle, hair won't need subsequent conditioner after some time of use. However, I felt a strong need for conditioner.
When my hair had dried, the hair strands were separated one by one, instead of the unmanageable hair I had before that was more clumped together in sections. My hair got a nice fall and was very fluffy, light, soft and smooth.
I felt like I was in a shampoo commercial, as my hair felt incredibly healthy and moved beautifully.
The hair doesn't smell much, but I notice a faint scent of herb garden and forest walk when I put my nose in my hair.
Day 2
Incredibly fresh scalp and my hair feels freshly washed. My hair is as fine as day 1 and smells just as fresh.
My hair is otherwise thick and heavy, but now it feels strong, has volume (!), shine and is incredibly smooth. Not a sign of dry hair at all.
Day 3
My hair is the same as day 1 and 2. I'm completely sold on the Gentle Herb Shampoo and often smell my hair.
It still smells freshly washed and there's not a sign of grease or impurity anywhere.
However, it started itching very slightly on my scalp in the evening.
Day 4
My hair looks just as clean and shiny but the fresh scent has disappeared. The lovely feeling on my scalp is almost completely gone.
Day 5
My hair is completely flat and it's time for a wash. This time the Gentle Herb shampoo lathered much more, so I didn't need to use as much.
Moreover, my hair became so soft that conditioner was barely needed, but I chickened out and used a little conditioner anyway. Next time I don't think conditioner will be needed.
I think I'm going to have a hard time switching shampoos. Odylique Gentle Care Shampoo is completely superior, at least for my hair and scalp.
If you're tempted to try it, the shampoo is available in a 20 ml tube for 39 kr. Perfect if you want to try it first. Otherwise it's available in 200 ml or 500 ml.
